Billboard Pride

As founding editor, Patrick spearheaded the strategic launch and development of Billboard Pride, the first dedicated LGBTQ vertical at a major music publication. Patrick set the editorial vision and growth strategy, positioning the brand as the premier platform for queer artist discovery and storytelling.

Under his leadership, Billboard Pride grew its social media footprint to over 100,000 Facebook followers within six months and drove a 1900% weekly increase in Instagram engagement. The vertical consistently outperformed genre-specific channels in traffic and audience retention, contributing to a significant uptick in Billboard’s overall digital readership.

Patrick directed high-impact campaigns including Love Letters to the LGBTQ Community, a viral initiative that engaged more than 100 major artists and generated widespread social sharing, and Spillin’ the Tea, Billboard’s most-viewed video series with millions of views across platforms.

Patrick also forged strategic partnerships with organizations such as GLAAD and led the production of urgent advocacy content, including a rapid-response video addressing the trans military ban that featured messages from Dua Lipa, Sia and others. The vertical’s cultural and commercial success also attracted brand collaborations with Mercedes, W Hotels and American Airlines.

The launch of Billboard Pride not only earned the company its first GLAAD Media Award, it also paved the way for other major media outlets to invest in LGBTQ-focused coverage, helping to amplify queer artist visibility and shift mainstream music industry narratives.
